How Does Affirm Work for body mods?

 Everyone is feeling the pinch financially at the moment and with the holidays coming up credit card debt is soaring. We’re all “broke”. The body mods industry is a luxury which means most of us want stuff but frankly it’s just not in the budget right now. Instead of trying to figure out cleaning your credit cards we can actually help with that! Our studio offers Affirm payments. That’s right, you can actually put your tattoo, piercing, or jewelry on a payment plan! 

What is Affirm?

Affirm is not a credit card. In fact it was designed specifically to be different than credit cards. Unlike a traditional credit line or card you choose how much you want to borrow, how long you want to repay it, and there are no late fees or surprises! They also tell you exactly what you’ll be paying including the interest so you’re not stuck paying more and more over time as that accrues. 

How much am I going to Pay in fees and interest?

The simple answer is that depends. As Affirm is flexible so  your interest and terms differ on your preferences. Here’s an example of what you might be paying from their site:


While we’d totally love to get you a $10,000 project it’s unlikely that you’re going to borrow more than that so these should be a pretty close match for you.  Your two options of either monthly pay or pay in 4 help give you a little flexibility too as to how soon you want it paid off. 

Does it affect my Credit?

When you apply for Affirm they will ask for your info as if you were applying for a credit card. However, they don’t perform a “Hard” enquiry which means it won’t show up on your credit history; but just like any form of borrowing if you don’t repay your credit may be impacted. 

Their decision is partially based on credit so you can be denied if you have a poor credit history. If you’re not sure it’s probably best to apply before you get your mods done just to be safe!

How does it work? 

We have two ways to use Affirm in studio. When you check out you can choose it on the POS and be approved or you can get your approval beforehand for a specific amount. If you want to be approved beforehand just shoot us a message and we can text or email you a link to get approved and it sends the money directly to us ready for your appointment that way you know your budget. 

If you want to apply directly on their site they also offer an Affirm card that sends you a physical card like a credit card but using your preferences rather than a traditional credit limit. 

Your piercer/tattoo artist gets paid and your payment schedule works to whatever you’ve selected.

Wycinanki Tattoos

 As a proud Polish girl I LOVE Polish art. Traditional Polish art is so colorful and vibrant. I plan on getting some myself soon as a cover up. (Watch this space!). Wycinanki (Vihs-in-ahn-key) is a traditional art done with paper called quilling in English. It’s layers of colorful paper intricately cut out and then stuck down. It creates a 3d shape but also a 2d design. Common themes include flowers and chickens. Much of Polish art comes from rural areas and is very specific to that region.  My family is from Masowia in central Poland which means they have different cultural costumes and themes than someone who is Góral from the Tatra mountains. The themes are usually similar, there’s a lot of floral, but the style a little different. For example, traditional Góral skirts are red and white while Masowia has green stripes and embroidered roses. It’s a beautiful and rich cultural identity. Why I hate AI as a tattoo artist

 There are millions of beautiful tattoos in the world. There are millions more of beautiful images of birds, trees, flowers, and the universe around us. The rise in AI has made many people struggle to tell between what is real and what isn’t. Micro tattoos have further added to this by allowing people to believe you can tattoo something and have good results. News flash - just because you can doesn’t mean it will look good or the same within 6 months. I find it completely unethical all these artists willing to do micro work and take client money without explaining how poorly their design ages; but that’s a different rant.  AI as a Tool Back in the day if you wanted to see your tattoo on yourself we could spend an hour or two and photograph your body then superimpose it through photoshop and bend it or distort it to fit.
